Project Life Photography Theme {week 36}, Catching Up

ooops! This post is way past due.

Well the theme is fitting though — Catching Up

This week found me taking photos of things I need to catch up on (and not actually doing them – LOL)

Fall is definitely in the air around here. We had our first frost *gasp* of the season last night. However, this time of year is beautiful and the crabapples and pie apples in the backyard are ready. I haven’t made jam in years, but thought I would tackle it again this fall – silly me

Bookkeeping – like laundry and dishes – never ends, but it has been left to pile up and this is only a couple of the MANY piles to sort and enter (thanks to a computer hard drive crash *boo* )

Speaking of dishes –  I am a bit horrified to share this photo as my kitchen is normally neat and tidy. Getting back into school routine has kind of kicked us in the back side this last week…

Needless to say I am tackling the kitchen first!

What are you catching up on this week?

PS – I will post {week 37} tomorrow :-)

Project Life Photography Theme {week 35}, School Routine

School is IN SESSION for most everyone now, so I thought this week is a great time to focus on the school routine your child has each day.

Grab a photo of their daily agenda, making lunch, packing their bag, walking or catching the bus and their after school routine.

Ask to them to share about their day and the things they like to do everyday. Going to the library, gym class, recess and their favourite subject.

Yes we have a GRAD in the house!

Gathering this information now, while it is still early in their year, will make for an interesting collection when you ask the same questions near the end of the year. How has their perspective changed. How have they grown.

Have a great weekend (it’s a long one for us here in Canada)

Project Life Photography Theme {week 34}, Framing Your Photos

Photo composition

I know there are many composition ‘rules’ we follow when taking pictures.

Framing your subjects is definitely part of that.

This week find interesting ways to ‘frame’ your subjects in the photo.

My son and my nephew were playing in the yard and this shot was taken by my cousin from the ground. Both boys are ‘framed’ by the brilliant blue sky. I love how it turned out.

Have a super day!

Project Life Photography Theme {week 33}, Emergency

Happy Friday!

A couple weeks ago we were watching the Summer Olympics when our TV went blank for a moment and then a warning flashed along the screen that our community was in the path of a vicious storm with a tornado and that we had less than 30 minutes to seek shelter. HOLY SMOKES!

We quickly gathered food/water and our dog and went to the basement. Hoping and praying for everyone’s safety.

Thankfully the storm shifted course and dissipated to a severe thunderstorm.

In getting everything together, I was reminded how important it is to be prepared for an emergency – any emergency. I realize one can never be FULLY prepared, but there are things that we can have ready in advance to can make being safe, easier.

Whether flood, wildfire, tornado, hurricane, volcano or other form of disaster, do you have a plan? Does your family know the plan? Where to go?

This week’s Project Life Photography theme is to capture some images of your Emergency plan.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Project Life Photography Theme {week 32}, Olympics Inspire

Happy Friday!

This week is the last week of the Olympics and we have been glued to the TV to watch all the events we can sneak in.

I have to say, I have been inspired to get more active. Not that I need to look like the perfectly sculpted body, however, to be fit enough to run 5 km or to swim a few laps… That would be great – right?

So I am using the athletes as my inspiration and getting back on track with my work out program.

This week capture the story of who is inspiring you right now and how they are influencing you.

Have a great weekend!
