Remembering
Today we remember. We remember those brave men and women
who fight for freedom around the world today and in years
past. My great uncle was one who fought during WWII and
thankfully he is still around today to be thanked in
person...
Today I also was a very proud auntie. My nephew was the
piper at several ceremonies both today and at schools
yesterday. He is only 14, yet he loves to play the bagpipes
at these remembering ceremonies - his way of saying thanks
too.
I teach my kids (age 4 and 7) about why we remember - it's
important, I believe - that we pass it on down to the next
generation. We must never forget that freedom is always
worth fighting for; that doing the right thing is sometimes very
hard, but always worth fighting for. That evil must be
stopped and truth is . . . you know it . . . alway worth
fighting for.
So today my children laid their poppies at the cenotaph memorial
in remembrance of those who died . . . we remember them.
