Scrapbook Albums, What Size Do You Use?
By Tammy MTraditionally photo albums have held 4x6 photos and nowadays there are very interesting things you can do with a photo album to dress it up and create a memory book to cherish. However with the dawn of scrapbooks we found ourselves being brought out of the box so to speak. The size options for albums seemed endless. Where does one start?
Well I decide what album size I am going use based on what the project is for. Usually if it is a gift I will choose a smaller size like 6x6 or 8x8. However for my children's books or our family book I have stuck with 12x12 albums.
We did a trip to Disney World a few years ago and I purchased a 12x12 Disney album specifically to commemorate the event. Although filled with great memories, I felt like I spent way to much time on 10 days of our lives. Since that time we have done a month long trip to Trinidad and Tobago and I decided to create that album digitally. It was a new experience for me, but I am enjoying it.
I guess if I have learned anything through the last few years about albums is that it really doesn't matter as long as the story is recorded. You just need to start somewhere.
You can get some great deals on a couple
albums here
What album size do you use most? Have you found a size that you just don't like?
I would love to hear what works for you!
PS - UWantSavings.com has some great discounts on household goods and even some scrapbooking stuff and right now if you spend $50 they will give you a coupon for $50 at Restaurant.com. Hmmm... scrapbooking and food ... what could be better?
Scheduling my Time for More Scrapbooking
By Tracy EHowever, if past history is any indicator, things really aren't as crazy as I'm making them out to be. All I need to do is get organized and suddenly I'm sailing again! I am addicted to my Outlook Calendar - it keeps me organized and gets my schedule out of spinning around in my head and down on "paper" in an orderly way.
So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to set aside an hour this week to get a schedule laid out on my calendar. I'll start by writing down all the tasks and their deadlines and include the fun things like scrapbooking so it doesn't get missed. Then I will methodically schedule my days accordingly. This is my key to success.
Sometimes I forget that the hour I spend scheduling is as important as an hour spent on a specific task. But it's true, because once that schedule is down - I can fly. If I don't do it the repercussion is constantly living with feeling overwhelmed and that I'm forgetting something. I would be flying by the seat of my pants instead of staying on top of things. NOT WORTH IT!!!
I'll let you know how it goes!
Cheers!
Tracy

Being Absent and Booting Up
By Tammy MColor Inspiration from Around The World
By Tammy MColor = Happiness
I have yellow walls all through my house, because white is just to boring. I have red serving platters because I love how it looks with the Spanish Gold on the walls and feels kind of 'Tuscany' - don't ask me why, I have never been there, but they are the colors I envision. And yes Italy is on my 'bucket list' to visit.
Becky Higgins has been sharing her trip to Finland and it got me thinking... Out of all the places in the world, when I think of bright, vibrant colors, Scandinavian countries come to mind. Maybe I have Ikea to thank for that impression, but I have always envied the use of bright mixes of color and have tried to incorporate that into our home.
So I was thrilled when
New Year’s Scrapbooking Resolutions
By Tammy MHere are some ideas for scrapbooking goals that we’re going to try for ourselves this year:
- Album goals. Finished albums are truly the mark of scrapbooking productivity where it literally gets pictures out of the envelopes, and onto the pages. We want to start, and finish, an album or two this year that at least covers a year’s worth of pictures. We also want to complete one album, or more, of some particularly special events such as a wedding, a birth, and/or a graduation.
- Purchasing goals. There are certain tools that every scrapbooker could use to improve their productivity and creativity. We’re going to make a wish list of the items we’d like to acquire so that we can take advantage of sale prices for those items we most want and need.
- Learning goals. There are several classes available that are great for learning new techniques. It’s inspiring to take several classes a year, so that scrapbooking remains fun and interesting. We need to make sure to allot time, and dollars, so that we can participate in the class offerings that most appeal to our learning needs.
- Socializing goals. One of the best things about scrapbooking are the friendships. In this busy life of ours we need to make time for our special friends. If this means small get-togethers, or scrapping parties, or even store crops, we want to make sure to work these joyful times into our calendars.
- Purging goals. It’s time to share! We’re going to apply “spring cleaning” to our scrapbooking, and lighten our load. We want to give our out-dated, or no-longer-needed-or-wanted stuff, to someone who can make ready use of it. This way we can more easily find the items we do want to use, without having to rifle through piles of things that no longer interest us.
Warmly,

Tammy Morales
