Where do you find inspiration in everyday life to create a layout or entire scrapbook?

Tammy
already mentioned newspapers and magazines as a source for making
the layouts unique. But, where do you find the inspiration in an
ordinary day to make a page? What is your motivation to create a
great scrapbook that will be worth looking at for generations to
come? Personally, I would like my scrapbooks to say something about
me, for my grandchildren and their children. I do not want them to
just gather dust on a shelf, or get thrown away. So, where do I
find the inspiration to make something worth keeping, not just for
my family and friends now, but for a touch of history in years to
come?

An answer to my own question
Submitted by Tina on Sat, 07/12/2008
If you haven't already signed up for Tammy's 6 Secrets, do so. It
doesn't cost a thing but 20 minutes of your time once a week. In
doing so, I think I have found the answer to my own question.
Now, I can take a little notebook with me in my purse everywhere
I go. Then, if someone says or does something of interest, I can
write it down before I forget. It is amazing how much I have
taken for granted. But, now that I am listening for every little
tidbit that might be a good antidote, I am also learning not to
take so much for granted, which is an added bonus!

The internet is full of places to get ideas. But I often have a
hard time finding a "look" that is something that is "like me". So,
I like to do a search on a specific topic that I may want to
scrapbook/theme for a card, (i.e....Hawaii scrapbook page or
handmade Birthday card) and then look through them, find photos I
like, copy it and put it into a MS publisher page (or other
graphics program) where I can put 2 or 3 ideas on the page and then
print them out and put them in a file folder. When it comes time to
scrapbook/make cards, I pull out that folder and get some
inspiration from those photos , tweek it to make it mine, and off I
go, but the ideas makes the layout process much easier and faster.

I like going over to the website flickr and doing a search for
ideas. This is great if your traveling you can get an idea of what
the locals photograph or if you miss a photo.
