Setting Up My Project Life Kit

In this video I show you how I set up my Project Life kit. Please remember that it is YOUR kit, there is no right or wrong way. This is just an idea.

Setting Up My “Project Life” Kit from Tammy Morales on Vimeo.

If you have any questions or comments leave them below.

{note}Sorry about some of the background noise, I recorded it in my kitchen (my scrapbook area was in a state of disaster), however it was close to supper time and there is some ‘rumblings’ going on. Hopefully it isn’t too distracting.

  1. I just found out about Becky Higgin’s Project Life kit on Tuesday!! I went straight to Amazon and ordered the kit, within 2 hours the kit had been shipped and now I’m crossing my fingers it will arrive before too long! My husband is in the US Air Force and we’re stationed overseas (Italy), so I thought this kit would be PERFECT for catching those every day moments while living abroad. Tammy, your video really inspired me! I’m just so excited about receiving my kit, I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas!! For now.. I’m just taking picture and journaling, I’m wondering if I should try to catch up from the 1st – 21st of January, I guess I’ll have to see how much stuff I really have to work with!?

  2. Thanks for the awesome video! I FINALLY got my Project Life in the mail today, just a few hours after you posted this video, so I watched it as I set up my kit. I also love the “random” idea – makes it easier for journaling and I won’t fret about what matches what. So excited to share all of our Project Life ideas through this website!

    P.S. Love your Canadian accent!!

  3. Thanks for the video. Isn’t this the funniest kit? Our setup is very similar.
I am going from Sunday to Sunday. For me it is more orderly. OK, I am off to scrap.

  4. lovely video Tammy! It’s nice to see another version of the kit put into action.

  5. Thrilled to see this video! My kit should be here tomorrow …..can’t wait to get started! Thanks for the tip of keeping some of the cards in my purse!

  6. Thanks so much for this! It’s just so nice of you to take the time and do this! I just got my kit yesterday and I’m in the process of putting it together and I’m in heaven! You did a great job on the video and the background noise was totally fine!

  7. Just got my kit today. I am so happy to have been lead here. This video is the best! I opened it with the greatest enthusiasm, but just kind of stared at it all. now I am so excited to get going. (I started taking pictures on the first, but certainly haven’t taken each day.

  8. I would love to watch your PL video but it says the video won’t load! Help!

  9. Hi Tammy,
I just wanted to thank you for making this great video! I just received my Project Life kit today and after watching your video, I set my own up. Thanks! :)

  10. Hi Tammy.

Thank you so much for creating this video! My kit is on it’s way to me in Sydney, Australia and I’m getting really excited! I’ve been taking my photos and journalling in my diary, so I’m ready to transfer these to my album when it arrives.

Thanks again for explaining your approach to completing Project Life!

    Marianne :)

  11. The video will not load for me either. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

  12. Glad everyone is finding some inspiration from the video.

For those of you are having trouble viewing it – you can also see it here http://vimeo.com/8711181 however, if you can post your comments here in the forum it will help me manage it a bit better. THANKS!

Let me know if you are still having trouble.

  13. Hi Tammy,

I just watched your video. It was so helpful and you did great speaking and showing everything so clearly. I’m so excited to be in this circle. I did p365 but put it together myself and midway let it go. Finally in the first week of December I worked everyday trying to finish it. I’m so excited that I was able to get Project Life, it’s all there ready to go. I am also doing like you are and just randamly choosing the cards to go in. Thanks for helping us and inspiring us to do this project.

  14. Thanks for the great ideas! I love seeing the different ways everyone is using the album and products.

  15. Love the video, Tammy. Your first and last pages look so much like mine that I thought you were going to try to painstakingly coordinate it all on the inside, like I did. You go random girl! Of course I followed the directions and put all of the title cards in the top left corner:)

  16. Tammy,
You are a hoot! And have awesome ideas for the Project Life Album. I love how you just do it
” randomly”. It really does take care of the worry and the planning time. I am going to use my album as a ‘Year in Review 2009′. I am going to do a month overview– be it 2 page layout or 4 pages– what it takes. We had an awesome year and some big milestones- HS graduation, Family Cruise, Winning HS Basketball Season. Have great photos to capture the moment.
Thank you again for bringing us this blog.
    Patty :)

  17. Tammy
Thank you so much for doing this video..I didnt get my kit just yet so Im going to watch it when it gets here. ( I want to be surprised) ! I look forward to visiting your site everyday!

  18. um… White stickers for the days of the week? I only got the “rainbow” ones… So there really are supposed to be three sets of stickers – the arrows, the rainbow “sun, mon, tues…” and white “sun, mon, tues…”? I just looked through my kit again, and they’re definitely not there. hmmm…

Great video!! I am SO not a random girl – but way to go!! Can’t wait to see pics of everyone’s weekly layouts.

  19. i cant wait to order my kit. I have not done this yet. I do have a blog that i am keeping up with it so when i do order it (when we can) I will be ready. Love the viedo. I also love the ramdom. I will be doing that for sure.

  20. I didn’t mean this was the funniest kit, I meant funnest. I guess I should just stick to proper English :-) . Anyway, I am having fun.

  21. I got my kit last week and have the title page plus 3 other pages done already! I am excited about this kit because before this I have not scrapbooked in ages and I own my own small rubber stamp and scrapbook company! This kit makes it so easy to get pages done that will last forever.

  22. Thanks so much for this video, you really got me motivated to get going on this!

  23. What a great video! (Although, I do have to admit that the OCD part of me cringed a little when you started shuffling the cards!!) I pulled out my kit and got started, and I can’t wait to work on it some more after my little one goes to bed tonight. Thanks, Tammy!

  24. You guys are the best – thanks!

Kristen, I realize I probably caused some ‘gasps’ when I shuffled the cards, but that is the beauty of scrapbooking. It is all about you and what you like to do!

As for my Canadian accent – I guess I would have one of those wouldn’t I Laughing

I am working on some topics for additional videos, both for Project Life and other scrapbooking topics. Have you looked at the Scrapbook Room Makeover video series? Have a look.

  25. thank you so much for taking the time to put together this video. Like so many, I cringed when you shuffled your cards, but I decided to give it a go myself. I tend a little toward the OCD side when I scrapbook, so I thought this was a good time for me to break away from that. I think I may have had a few heart palpatations when I was shuffling, but I love the results so far!

  26. Extrememly helpful video! Love it. Thanks ;o)

  27. Tammy thanks so much for the video! I’m glad to see that I wasn’t the only one who shuddered when you shuffled your cards…lol! But that’s the best part of the kit…everyone can do it their own way!! I just ordered my kit an hour ago from Amazon, so I should have it SOON!

  28. i loved your video….you gave me some great ideas to use…

  29. so so happy! Mine arrived late last nite by my friendly UPS MAN.. and I gotta say.. I love this kit already.. I know I’m late starting… so not quite sure yet.. if I’m gonna start it in Jan..then go back fr the last month and try to catch up.. or just start in another month.. not quite sure yet..

what I’m worried about is keeping up.. I’m worried I won’t print the photos I don’t hv a printer at home in a timely fashion.. and then my album will be lax.. u know?? I love how easy it is to do the pages though wow.. all I need to do is regularly print my p hotos and I’ll be set.. so easy to set up a whole year album like this.. wow..

I’m so impressed by this kit.. i’m actually thinking of ordering a few more for upcoming years.. is that crazy?? LOL

I love the journaling cards.. they’re my absolute fave part of the kit. how versatile are these.. plus the little designed cards that fit in the small pockets.. perfect for making cards.. use on the face of cards… the possiblities!

Just saying I received my kit and omg couldn’t be more pleased with it.. now I just need to figure out how I’m gonna set it all up and when I’m actually gonna start it!!!

  30. Hi , I opened my kit and cannot find the monthly divider tabs. Do you know where in the packaging it might be? I just want to make sure that I am absoulutely do not have it before I contact customer service.

  31. Banu,

Mine were loose in the binder. I would contact customer service ASAP.

  32. Hi Tammy, Thanks so much for replying back. I did check again thoroughly and could not find it anywhere. I have sent an email to customer service. Hope to hear back from them soon. And thanks so much for the video that really helped me a lot.

  33. Thank-you so much Tammy for taking the time to make this video. I really appreciate it and just finished setting up my album. I’m trying to convince myself that shuffling my journaling cards is a good idea:)
I find it funny that someone commented on your Canadian accent. I’m from British Columbia so I think you sound completely normal!:) Thanks again – I’d really love a video on what you’re doing with the 12×12 paper. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Yvonne

  34. Great video…thanks. I put my book together, and got my pictures up-to-date. A question I have is, how are others organizing the photos? I have the blank card on the top left, and thought to go across the top with Day 1, 2, 3 and then then days 4,5,6,7 on the bottom. But if I do that, then the journaling cards will be ‘out of order.’ So then I thought I could keep the blank card in the top left, put day 1 below that, day 2 in the top next to the blank, day 3 in the one below that, then move over to the second page and do the same thing…up, down, up, down. That way, the journaling cards will be in order. So I’m curious how others are setting theirs up.
    Deb

  35. Deb, I am doing mine so the journal cards are in order from left-right with the design card under my Week card. My pictures flow with the journal cards.

  36. Thanks…that’s what I ended up doing. I put the journaling cards in order. I like that.

  37. Hi Tammy,
Thanks for this wonderful video. I am enthusiastic about starting on this project. I got my kit late January but I really wanted to record some pix of the 31st and 1st week of January, I started with that, and since my life is boring, I had skipped the middle of January and proceeded with the last part of Jan and now will continue POTD style starting February. :-) … there is no wrong way when to scrapbook. Thanks for your wonderful video and this forum! Looking forward to interacting with you all.

  38. I loved your video! I also would be interested in your ideas for the 12X12 paper pack. :-D

  39. Dawn,

Thanks for the reminder about the 12×12 paper – I will be posting something soon.

  40. Jessica Turner over at The Mom Creative has a video up and she has some uses for the extra paper.

  41. Love the kit. I am breaking all the rules in every way and combining two years in tone album. WE lived in a differant state for those years and I just do not know how to scrap the pictures. So this kit has helped me. I am wondering did you ever show your ideas for the 12×12 paper and I missed it some where?

  42. Debbie, you didn’t miss it. I have posted it today here –>> http://www.scrapbookersinnercircle.com/magazine/read/ideas-for-the-decorative-paper-in-the-project-life-kit_194.html

    Thanks for everyone’s patience.

  43. Hi Tammy – thanks so much for posting this video – I’ve just opened my kit and started getting it ready for the New Year. I’m REALLY looking forward to it!!! ANYthing to get me scrapping in some form again :)

….. but the really, really, REALLY important question for me is…. do you give shuffling lessons?? Man, you’re GOOD! LOL

  44. LOL Kelly :)

  45. I’m hoping to be able to spend a little time today playing with my bits and pieces and setting things up! Thanks for the video as it helped to see what someone else did to give me some ideas of how I might want to do things. I like your idea of shuffling things up since I tend to be a bit too orderly and uptight with things and I don’t want this project to be like that at all!

  46. Thanks so much Tammy for putting this together! i am doing sunday to sunday!! I need to finish organizing my book tonight and put in my first entry:)

  47. Great video, thanks for posting it. I can’t wait to get my kit to set it up.
Has anyone started PL for 2011 yet?
I have, well taking photos and doing my journaling on my computer.

  48. Joy, I set up my PL 2011 album just yesterday and based on my experience from last year, this is how I am going to try and do it,

I have created photo albums in snapfish for the months and will upload pictures there daily and will order them every two weeks.
I have created a word template for the journaling cards and as I upload the pictures, I will write down my journaling so that I can print them out every week on a saturday and Sunday and put it in the album and then when I get the pictures in mail, just add them and those weeks are ready.
The one thing that I have not experimented with yet is – if I can tape the journaling cards on a plain CS and then feed that through my printer and print the journaling right on those cards…not sure how that would work.

    Thanks
    Banu
PS: I got the turquoise edition and just loving it.

  49. Those are some good tip Banu, thanks.
I also go the turquoise edition, it arrived today and I have put everything together. It might not stay that way but I am all set up. Oh the organizer in my is soooo happy right now.
