Creative Techniques for Pictures on your Scrapbook Layout

One great idea for making a picture stand out on a page is to create a mosaic with it. This works especially well with nature shots that are large and close up. I find it looks best with enlarged photos – at least 5×7 but even bigger is great.
You basically decide how you want the picture cut up – strips, squares, patterned, or whatever you want. Geometric shapes work really well though. Then you cut your photo and lay it out with even spaces on a solid colored cardstock. Black is traditional but any color can be fine. Once you have the desired look, tape down each part of the photo and then trim the border around the photo to be the same size as the spaces.
I love this look with flower pictures or fall scenery especially. You may be scared to cut up such a beautiful picture, but remember that your eyes fill in the gaps while still appreciating the unique technique that makes the photo stand out.
