My 2009 Personal Scrapbooking Challenge

Posted on January 19, 2009 | 0 comments

Now don’t worry I am not suggesting that you all do this too, but I decided that I needed a new challenge for 2009. Now that my scrapbook space is established and I maintain it with regular purges, I have chosen to give myself one of my toughest challenges yet. Or could it be my easiest?

365 pictures

1 picture per day for each day of the year. My plan is to create weekly layouts describing everything from the eventful to the mundane. Like you my life is a rollercoaster. Some days are like living in glamour, some are fast paced, but most are routine, same old daily tasks. BUT it is MY LIFE. This project will likely have more of a ‘me’ focus although it will definitely cover the important events and days of each of my family members.

Sound crazy? Well I looked at it this way. Instead of focusing on single highlighted events in my year and trying to create multiple layouts about the same event, I thought this would help me be more consistent and create a memory that is more about us and not just about special events. I am really excited!

However, I am only 19 days into this and already have missed a couple days. My perfectionist self is telling my sub-conscious “I knew it wouldn’t work – give up now, you are so far behind”. My creative side (who is winning the battle by the way) is reminding me that I can journal that day. Photos are not the only way to tell a story.

If you are interested in doing the same, you can start at any time. You don’t need to worry that you have missed most of January. ‘Just start where you are at’ as the FlyLady would say . Don’t let your perfectionist side win!

I am excited to see the 52 layouts this will create of our 2009 year! Or another idea is to create your layout as an entire month on a 2 page layout.

If you decide to join me let me know! We can encourage one another.
